  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients

  • 4 firm apples
  • 12 rounds of puff pastry (from 3-4 store-bought pastry rolls)
  • 10 cm roll of marzipan
  • 25 g brown sugar
  • A bit of icing sugar
  • A handful of flaked almonds
  • 50 g butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut out 12 rounds using a cutter.
  3. Place the rounds on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  4. Prick the pastry rounds with a fork to prevent them from puffing too much.
  5. Bake the pastry in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool.
  6. While the pastry cools, peel and slice the apples thinly.
  7. In a pan, melt the butter and add the apple slices. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cook until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Take a baked pastry round and place a layer of cooked apples on top.
  9. Grate a portion of the marzipan over the apples.
  10. Add a second pastry round on top, followed by another layer of apples and marzipan.
  11. Repeat this process until all pastry rounds, apples, and marzipan are used up, finishing with a layer of pastry on top.
  12. Dust the top with icing sugar and sprinkle the flaked almonds over it.
  13. For an extra touch, place it under the broiler for a minute to give the almonds a nice golden color.
  14. Allow it to cool slightly before serving.
